The rooftop solar project is expected to produce about 171,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually, reducing DHL's carbon footprint by an estimated 121 metric tons per year. This environmental impact is equivalent to planting over 5,500 trees or eliminating more than 482,000 kilometers of vehicle travel.
“We are looking at building a few more sites powered by solar energy. It just makes so much sense, not just for this generation, but for future generations as well,” said Bevan Williams, DHL supply chain’s country managing director. “We look forward to expanding and strengthening this partnership with MSpectrum.”
The project represents DHL’s ongoing investment in energy efficiency and reflects its long-term commitment to sustainable operations in the Philippines. DHL’s Sta. Rosa training center will now benefit from reliable, renewable energy—helping to lower operational costs and reduce environmental impact.
“This partnership is more than just a milestone—it is a meaningful step toward our shared vision of a future where solar rooftops are a common sight across the Philippines,” said Ma. Cecilia M. Domingo, MSpectrum president and CEO.
This latest collaboration builds on a growing relationship between DHL and Meralco, which began with the energization of DHL’s largest facility in Sta. Rosa. The partnership has been further strengthened through Power Consult’s guidance on optimizing energy usage.
“Together, we drive progress and productivity that ripple far beyond our individual roles—creating opportunities and contributing to the development of a more resilient and inclusive nation,” said Charina P. Padua, Meralco first vice president and head of customer retail services. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
