The Ayala Group is marking 25 years of support for the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines’ Business Journalism Awards, extending the partnership for its 35th edition this November.
What began years before social media transformed the news cycle has continued as journalists grapple with increasingly complex companies, markets and economic issues that affect everyday Filipinos.
A partnership that grew with the industry
“Ayala has supported the EJAP Business Journalism Awards for 25 years. What has sustained the partnership is a shared belief that credible business reporting serves both the market and the public,” EJAP president Ted Cordero said in a statement.
Cordero and EJAP vice president for external Lorenz Marasigan renewed the partnership on Sept. 3 with Ayala Corp. chief social infrastructure officer Paolo Borromeo.
The commitment now stretches across Ayala Corp., Ayala Land, BPI, Globe Telecom, ACEN, AC Health, AC Logistics, ACMobility, ACX, Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc., Mynt, iPeople and Ayala Foundation.
Keeping the institution going
“A trusted press and well-informed citizens are important to building strong institutions and a resilient, inclusive society,” Borromeo said.
For EJAP, the partnership helps sustain an awards program that has grown into one of the country’s established platforms for recognizing reporting on business, finance and the economy.
Its 35th edition will put another generation of that work before the industry when the EJAP Business Journalism Awards are held on Nov. 6.
