Robinsons Supermarket expands in Bohol with first Panglao store

Robinsons Supermarket, part of the Gokongwei family's Robinsons Retail Holdings, is planting a flag in Panglao as the Gokongwei retail group chases spending in one of the Philippines’ busiest tourism markets.

The flagship supermarket business of Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. opened its first Panglao branch on Sept. 4 at the Bellemar Lifestyle Center in Tawala, expanding its footprint in Bohol.

The move puts Robinsons closer to an economy powered not only by local households but also by tourists, hotels, resorts and restaurants that need a steady supply of groceries and fresh food.

Betting on Panglao’s tourism engine

Panglao has grown into a major tourism hub, giving retailers access to spending from both residents and the steady flow of domestic and international visitors.

The new supermarket carries fresh produce, meat and seafood alongside pantry staples, household goods and local and international brands.

Robinsons is also positioning the branch to serve nearby hotels, resorts, restaurants and transient accommodations, widening its potential customer base beyond everyday shoppers.

“As we continue to expand our footprint nationwide, our goal remains unchanged: to bring Everyday Goodness and Everyday Value closer to more Filipino communities,” Robinsons Supermarket group general manager Kerwin Legarde said.

Robinsons pushes deeper into Bohol

The Panglao opening strengthens Robinsons Supermarket’s presence in Bohol while extending the retailer into another tourism-driven market outside the country’s biggest urban centers.

The store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving Robinsons a new foothold as tourism and investment continue to reshape Panglao’s local economy.
