The new branch at Maxicare Clinic Bonifacio Technology Center in Bonifacio Global City allows patients to consult a doctor, fill prescriptions and receive pharmacist support in one location, eliminating the need for a separate pharmacy visit.
One-stop care
The move reflects Robinsons Retail’s push to integrate more of the patient journey, capturing demand from medical consultation through treatment while making healthcare more convenient.
“This format responds to a simple but important patient need: after seeing a doctor, people should be able to get the medicines they need without another stop. By bringing Southstar Drug inside a Maxicare Clinic, we are helping make everyday healthcare more connected, convenient, and easier to complete,” said Southstar Drug general manager Thaddeus Sanchez.
Maxicare Group president and group chief executive officer Christian Argos said the model removes another barrier to completing treatment by allowing patients to access medicines immediately after seeing a physician.
Expansion opportunity
Southstar Drug and Maxicare are studying the rollout of similar in-clinic pharmacies across more Maxicare locations nationwide, depending on patient demand and clinical requirements.
The initiative broadens Robinsons Retail’s healthcare footprint as competition shifts beyond traditional drugstores toward integrated healthcare services.
Southstar Drug operates 738 stores nationwide as of June 2026 and is part of Robinsons Retail’s drugstore portfolio alongside Rose Pharmacy and The Generics Pharmacy.
