The Ayala Group’s ACEN Corp. has achieved a major international breakthrough with the full operations of the A$760-million (P29 billion) Stubbo Solar project in New South Wales, reinforcing its status as a major Asia Pacific energy player.

The 520-MWdc (400 MWac) facility is yet more proof of ACEN’s ability to deliver large-scale renewable projects abroad and manage complex, utility-scale developments outside the Philippines.

Stubbo Solar, among the largest in Australia, also makes history as the first solar generator under a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement to reach full commercial operation.

ACEN: Strong partnerships can unlock large-scale investments

“Stubbo Solar reinforces ACEN’s long-term commitment to Australia’s clean energy future. This milestone highlights how clear policy and strong partnerships can unlock large-scale renewable investments,” said ACEN Australia executive chair Jose Maria Zabaleta.

“It also reflects the dedication of our ACEN Australia team and partners whose collaboration and hard work turned this project into a powerful example of what’s possible in the energy transition,” he added.

Stubbo Solar can power 185,000 Australian homes and includes space for a 200-MW / 800 MWh battery system to help keep energy supply stable. It’s also certified to reuse or recycle all 930,000 panels, making it one of the country’s most sustainable solar projects.

The event marking the project’s completion was attended by New South Wales Minister for Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Heritage Penny Sharpe, Ayala president and CEO and ACEN chair Cezar “Bong” Consing, ACEN president and CEO Eric Francia, Zabaleta, and the ACEN Australia team.

Years in the making

ACEN Australia managing director David Pollington said Stubbo’s story began several years ago, long before the policy frameworks now shaping Australia’s renewable energy landscape were in place.

“What started as a single-site concept has become one of the most significant renewable energy investments in regional New South Wales, built through partnership, persistence, and strategic adaptation,” Pollington said.

Bridging two eras of Australian energy policy, Stubbo Solar now stands as a symbol of ACEN’s growing global reach and its capacity to deliver clean energy projects that drive both economic and environmental progress.
