The shift marks a major milestone in the schools’ sustainability journey, cutting around 290 tons of carbon emissions each month and advancing their mission to care for the environment.
The move is also inspired by Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ call for ecological conversion and responsible stewardship.
“More and more institutions, especially in the education sector, are realizing the immense advantages of transitioning to renewable energy, not just for the planet but for their long-term operational sustainability,” said Tony Valdez, ACEN’s senior vice president for market transformation.
“We are honored that Siena Colleges have placed their trust in ACEN RES as their renewable energy partner. ACEN RES lauds Siena Colleges for making the right choice, setting a powerful example for other academic institutions nationwide,” he added.
Led by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, the initiative reflects the schools’ commitment to sustainability and faith-based education grounded in empathy for people and the planet.
