A key milestone in this effort is the transition of 15 buildings of Robinsons Offices in Metro Manila to 100 percent renewable energy.
The shift, which began in October 2025, covers both standalone office developments and assets under RL Commercial REIT Inc. (RCR), the company’s real estate investment trust platform, the company said in a statement.
Located across major business districts in Quezon City, Taguig, Pasig, and Mandaluyong, these office spaces cater to tenants seeking accessible, high-quality, and future-ready workplaces.
Metro coverage
The buildings powered by renewable energy include GBF Center 1 and 2, Tera Tower, Giga Tower, Zeta Tower, and Exxa Tower in Quezon City; Cyber Sigma in Taguig; Cyber Omega and the Cyberscape complex in Pasig; and Robinsons Cybergate Plaza and Cybergate Center Towers 1 to 3 in Mandaluyong.
Together, these properties span nearly 650,000 square meters of gross leasable area—roughly equivalent to 85 football fields—highlighting the scale of the company’s sustainability efforts.
The shift is expected to significantly reduce environmental impact, with projections showing around 39,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions avoided annually. This is comparable to removing about 8,500 passenger vehicles from the road each year.
Sustainability Push
Many of these buildings are already LEED- or EDGE-certified, reinforcing their adherence to global green building standards.
Robinsons Offices is also on track to achieve full green certification across its portfolio by the end of 2026.
The renewable energy initiative forms part of a broader sustainability approach that has been steadily integrated into Robinsons Offices developments over the years.
The company has expanded its presence not only in Metro Manila but also in key regional hubs such as Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, and Dumaguete.
This nationwide footprint allows tenants to operate in strategically located offices that combine sustainability features with modern infrastructure.
Industry support
Supporting the transition is MPower, Meralco’s retail electricity supplier for contestable customers. The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship within the Gokongwei Group, which includes Robinsons Land and RL Commercial REIT.
RL Commercial REIT president and CEO Jericho P. Go said the initiative aligns with the company’s earlier push toward reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
“This initiative is very timely. Four years ago, we were already pushing for electric vehicle utilization. Today, fuel prices have more than doubled. We are grateful to MPower for helping us achieve 100 percent renewable energy in our Metro Manila offices,” Go said.
MPower senior vice president Redel Domingo added that sustainability efforts today are no longer defined by growth alone, but by how responsibly businesses operate and create positive impact.
Future-ready spaces
Beyond renewable energy sourcing, Robinsons Offices continues to design workplaces that meet evolving business needs.
Developments feature accessible locations, EV charging stations, solar panels, and backup power systems to support efficiency and business continuity.
These initiatives position Robinsons Offices as a provider of ESG-aligned workplaces—spaces that are not only practical for today’s tenants but also built with long-term sustainability in mind. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
