Anvaya Cove ranks 15th in Asia, No. 1 in Southeast Asia

Anvaya Cove Golf Course has kept its crown as Southeast Asia’s No. 1 golf course while moving up four spots to 15th among the Top 100 Golf Courses in Asia.

The 18-hole, par-72 championship course in Morong, Bataan, rose from 19th in Asia in 2024, cementing its standing as the highest-ranked Philippine course on the regional list.

Anvaya Cove Golf Course is part of Anvaya Cove, the first seaside leisure estate of Ayala Land Premier, the luxury residential brand of Ayala Land Inc.

“Our passion is to continue the quality of the golf course and to maintain it consistently, knowing the jewel that Anvaya Cove is,” Anvaya Cove Golf & Sports Club general manager Raymond Bunquin said in a company statement.

Regional recognition

The Top 100 Golf Courses in Asia ranking was determined by a panel of 74 golf industry experts and committee members from 12 countries, in collaboration with Golf Travel Korea and Golf Travel China.

The panel assessed courses based on design and strategic challenge, facilities, service and the overall experience for golfers rather than tournament pedigree alone.

Anvaya Cove competed against a field of an estimated 7,200 golf courses across Asia.

The course drew recognition for a layout that requires players to adjust their approach from hole to hole, including varying carry distances, elevation changes, recovery shots and approaches to greens.

It is designed to challenge low-handicap golfers while remaining playable for members and guests, with multiple routes available through most holes.

“Being able to win this award for two consecutive years and being the first in Southeast Asia is an achievement for management and everyone that has helped build this place,” Bunquin said.

“It is more than just the golf course itself; it is the total experience we offer our players and members that elevates Anvaya Cove to be above the rest,” he added.

Natural terrain

Spanning 82 hectares, Anvaya Cove Golf Course stretches about 7,200 yards from its championship tees.

The course was designed around Morong’s existing terrain, with views of the Zambales Mountain Range, the forested slopes of Mount Natib and Subic Bay.

Its natural setting also forms part of the challenge for golfers. Changes in elevation and prevailing winds from the bay can influence club selection and how players approach individual holes.

The course is complemented by the facilities and services of Anvaya Cove Golf & Sports Club, whose operations are managed by Ayala Land Hospitality.

Tourism draw

The recognition comes as golf plays a growing role in attracting travelers to leisure destinations, particularly golfers from markets such as South Korea and China seeking courses that can be played throughout the year.

Anvaya Cove is about 25 minutes from the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and roughly 3.5 hours from Metro Manila via the North Luzon Expressway and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

Its location places the development within the Subic-Clark tourism corridor and within reach of Metro Manila's weekend leisure market.

For Ayala Land Premier, the golf course also serves as a major amenity for its residential development, tying the regional recognition to the estate’s broader leisure proposition.

Beyond golf

Anvaya Cove combines residential communities with the Anvaya Beach & Nature Club and Anvaya Cove Golf & Sports Club.

The estate offers access to the coastline, forest trails and other recreational facilities alongside its championship golf course.

The combination allows the development to position itself as a broader leisure destination, with golf serving as one of its main attractions rather than its only offering. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
