The 128 Megawatt (MW) project in Tanay, Rizal will plug into the Luzon grid through a powerful 500kV line, marking one of the most extensive integration efforts for a renewable project in the country.
The ERC approved Alternergy Tanay Wind Corp.’s (ATWC) plan to build two double-circuit 500kV transmission lines, a 500kV switchyard, and a 150 MVA transformer.
“This is an innovative interconnection scheme that enables our Tanay Wind Power Project to meet its commitment under the Administration’s Green Energy Auction 2 (GEA 2),” Gerry P. Magbanua, ATWC president, said in a statement.
“We are thankful to [National Grid Corporation of the Philippines] for its collaboration in ensuring our timely dispatch of green power to the grid while awaiting the final connection scheme,” he added.
Magbanua also credited ERC and NGCP’s support in fast-tracking approvals not only for Tanay but also for the recently cleared Alabat Wind project.
