The Ayala Group's ACEN Corp. has started operating a 60-megawatt solar facility in San Manuel, Pangasinan, its first solar project in the province.

The project, called San Manuel Solar, was developed following ACEN’s acquisition of Sinocalan Solar Power Corp. in Dec. 2022.

Output, grid link

The facility has 108,752 solar panels and is expected to generate about 94 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year, which ACEN said is enough to supply around 55,000 households.

It is connected to the grid through a 1.8-kilometer dedicated transmission line linked to the 69-kilovolt San Manuel Substation of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

Emissions and 2030 target

ACEN said the project avoids over 58,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually and supports the government’s target of 35 percent renewable energy in the power generation mix by 2030.

The company said it is also running community programs in Pangasinan, including Brigada Eskwela and Brigada Pagbasa in partnership with the Department of Education.
