Business tycoon William Belo’s home improvement retailer Wilcon Depot reported a net income of P740 million during the first quarter of 2024, a decline of 23 percent mainly due to the significant drop in March revenues that were influenced by the Easter holidays in March.

The decline came as total sales shed 2.5 percent to P8.3 billion.

Wilcon’s president, Lorraine Belo-Cincochan, said the core business remains robust as she explained the March drop was amplified by its exceptionally strong performance in March 2022.

“We are looking forward to better results in the future as we work towards improving our performance to reach or even beat our 2022 results,” she said.

“We are still on track to reach our 100-store target by the end of the year. We have opened three new stores during the quarter, two Do It Wilcon format branches and one depot,” she added.
