  • Moderno to add Cebu showroom in the third quarter
  • Demand for smart home products spreads nationwide
  • Homeowners prioritize comfort, convenience, and value

Moderno Home Depot is expanding its retail footprint across the Philippines as demand for smart home products grows beyond Metro Manila.

The home improvement retailer currently operates four showroom branches in Bulacan, Laguna, Quezon City, and Davao City, and is preparing to open a Cebu City showroom in the third quarter as it broadens its nationwide presence.

The expansion comes as interest in connected living continues to grow. Market and consumer data provider Statista projects global household penetration of smart home products to exceed 82 percent in 2026, while the Philippine smart home market is expected to reach $350 million by 2030.

According to a company release, Moderno has seen increasing interest in smart home products as homeowners place greater emphasis on convenience, comfort, aesthetics, and long-term value when making purchasing decisions.

Why it matters

The trend reflects a broader shift in consumer preferences as homebuyers and renovators increasingly look for products that enhance everyday living rather than simply address functional needs.

"Based on our customer database, sales trends, and surveys gathered from our clients over the years, we've observed that Filipino homeowners have become more intentional with their purchasing decisions," Moderno Home Depot co-owner Jean Sanchez said.

"While price remains a consideration, more customers are now prioritizing comfort, convenience, aesthetics, and long-term value."

Sanchez said homeowners are showing growing interest in products such as smart toilets, digital showers, touchless faucets, and modern kitchen solutions.

The regional story

The company's expansion into Mindanao highlights how demand for premium home improvement products is extending into regional markets.

Moderno chose Davao City for its first Mindanao flagship showroom because of the region's economic growth, increasing residential developments, and rising demand for higher-end home solutions. The company also reported receiving significant customer inquiries and orders from Mindanao before establishing a physical presence there.

The retailer said purchasing patterns differ across markets. Metro Manila customers tend to favor space-efficient and practical solutions, while provincial homeowners are increasingly undertaking larger home projects and purchasing across multiple product categories.

The bigger picture

Smart toilets remain Moderno's best-selling product category, followed by modern kitchen sinks and digital showers, according to the company.

The planned Cebu showroom marks the retailer's next step in expanding outside its existing markets, reflecting its expectation that demand for smart home products and premium home improvement solutions will continue to grow in regional areas across the country.
