The investment will support DALI’s national expansion as the retailer builds on a network of more than 1,300 stores and over one million customers served daily. The companies did not disclose the size of ALDI SÜD’s stake or other financial details of the transaction.
Why it matters
The deal brings together DALI’s rapidly expanding Philippine footprint and ALDI SÜD’s century-old hard-discount model, which focuses on operational efficiency, tightly curated product selections and consistently low prices.
DALI will remain independently managed by its local management team, retaining full operational responsibility in the Philippines.
“DALI has built an impressive, hard discount retail business in a short period of time. The Philippines is a high-growth market with strong consumer demand for quality groceries at low prices, and DALI is well-positioned to serve that demand at scale. This is a long-term investment for ALDI SÜD, and we look forward to supporting DALI as a partner as it continues to grow,” ALDI SOUTH group chief financial officer and member of the executive board Marcus Almeling said in a statement sent to InsiderPH.

DALI said its expansion has already created nearly 10,000 jobs across its stores, distribution centres and support offices. The retailer also works with hundreds of Philippine suppliers, ranging from farmers and small manufacturers to larger producers.
“DALI exists because Filipino families deserve a grocery experience built around them: honest prices, everyday essentials, and stores in the neighborhoods that need them most. That mission has created nearly 10,000 jobs and partnerships with hundreds of local suppliers, from farmers to manufacturers, all rooted in the Philippine economy. ALDI SÜD investment lets us go further: more stores, more Filipino jobs, and a stronger local supply chain that keeps growing alongside the communities we serve.” DALI Everyday Grocery director of administration and treasury Regie dela Cruz said.
The big picture
ALDI SÜD operates more than 7,500 stores across 11 countries. Its investment gives DALI additional backing as the Philippine retailer pushes into more barangays and provinces, including underserved communities.
DALI said further expansion is expected to generate additional local employment, strengthen its supplier ecosystem and broaden access to lower-priced everyday groceries. —Daxim L. Lucas | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
