Insider Spotlight

  • Security Bank is deepening its focus on wealth, entrepreneurs and corporate clients as financial needs increasingly overlap
  • Wealth assets under management surged fourteenfold to P560 billion in 2025, while its MSME portfolio reached P32.5 billion
  • President and CEO Victor Lee Meng Teck says collaboration and a “one-bank, one-team culture” are central to the strategy

Security Bank is betting that the next era of banking will be defined less by traditional customer categories and more by understanding the complete financial needs of clients.

The bank is sharpening its focus on Wealth, Entrepreneur Banking, and Corporate & Institutional Banking, supported by transaction banking, digital capabilities, strategic investments and its decade-long partnership with MUFG Bank.

Following the client, not the category

Security Bank’s wealth assets under management increased fourteenfold from P40 billion in 2017 to P560 billion in 2025. Its MSME portfolio, meanwhile, expanded from P13 billion in 2021 to P32.5 billion in 2025.

“The strongest banking relationships are not built around a single product or transaction,” Security Bank president and CEO Victor Lee said. “They are built by understanding what the client is trying to achieve and remaining relevant as those ambitions grow.”

Beyond the corporate loan

The strategy also extends to institutional clients, where Security Bank wants to serve more than financing needs by supporting payments, collections, payroll, trade and treasury activities.

Project-finance gross loans increased from P53 billion in 2024 to P76.2 billion in 2025, while trade loans more than doubled from P16.1 billion in 2020 to P33.8 billion in 2025. Security Bank Capital and the MUFG partnership add project-finance, capital-markets and cross-border capabilities.

More ways to be relevant

Security Bank is broadening its reach through Home Credit Philippines, SB Finance and Mitsubishi Motors Finance Philippines, alongside digital platforms including the SB App and DigiBanker Pro.

The bank is also establishing a centrally governed approach to artificial intelligence to improve technology delivery, financial analysis and operations while maintaining human oversight.

Building one bank, one team

For Lee, delivering that broader relationship requires the bank itself to work across traditional organizational boundaries.

“I’ve never worked for a bank that is so client-centric; so family-oriented, we really take care of our own, “ he further says. “While we reinforce this family-oriented environment, we are also on track in building a ‘one-bank, one-team’ culture.”

To achieve this, collaboration is key.
