The company secured a Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score of 72 out of 100, the highest among Philippine firms, after a 14-point jump from its previous score. This placed PLDT in the top 15 percent of its industry and within 30 percent of the best-performing telecom company globally.
As a result, PLDT was also named “Industry Mover”, marking the biggest performance improvement in the telecommunications sector.
Managements’ view
“PLDT is proud to be among the best companies in the world in terms of sustainability. We recognize that making a meaningful impact on our stakeholders is key to long-term profitability, and we are glad that our efforts have been recognized,” said PLDT chair and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan.
“Rest assured that this inspires our organization to continue pursuing initiatives that consider our environmental, social and governance impacts,” he added.
Distinct honor
“Inclusion in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook is a distinct honor, as is being named as the Industry Mover in the global telco industry. These affirm that PLDT’s sustainability roadmap is on the right track and in line with global best practices,” said PLDT first vice president and chief sustainability officer Melissa V Vergel de Dios.
PLDT strengthened its sustainability efforts in 2024 by introducing a Human Rights Policy, improving disclosures on stakeholder impact, and enhancing strategies to integrate climate and environmental factors into its business.
The company also maintained high scores in risk management, data privacy, and cybersecurity, reinforcing its commitment to corporate responsibility.
Out of 7,690 companies across 62 industries assessed in the 2024 CSA, only 780 made it into the Yearbook, proving the rigorous standards of inclusion.
