The initiatives earned RCBC two recognitions at The Asian Banker Philippine Awards 2026. The MySSS Card powered by RCBC DiskarTech won Best Growth Strategy in Digital Banking in the Philippines, while the RCBC Pulz U.S. Virtual Account was named Best Digital Ecosystem and Platform Initiative in the Philippines.
Why it matters
Launched in 2025, the two services tackle different banking hurdles, from traditional onboarding and documentary requirements to receiving payments from overseas.
The MySSS Card, developed in partnership with the Social Security System, provides a “three-in-one” physical-digital setup combining access to the SSS digital platform, an RCBC DiskarTech digital banking account and a debit card.
The other side
RCBC Pulz U.S. Virtual Account, powered by Meridian, is designed for Filipino freelancers, virtual assistants and digital professionals who may not have a U.S. address or Social Security Number. Customers in the Philippines can use it to receive and manage U.S. dollar payments and facilitate international transfers.
The Asian Banker said the initiatives demonstrate how RCBC combines customer acquisition and financial inclusion with a digital platform connecting banking, cross-border payments and other financial services.
“These awards reflect our commitment to building technology that solves real, everyday challenges for Filipinos. Every digital solution we develop is designed to make financial services more accessible, intuitive, and impactful,” Reggie Cariaso, RCBC president and chief executive officer, said.
What they’re saying
Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer, said the recognition puts a spotlight on the work of the bank’s Digital Enterprise and Innovations Group in developing banking solutions for an increasingly digital consumer market.
What’s next
RCBC is extending its digital strategy into transport payments. The bank recently introduced an EMV-standard open-loop payment system on LRT-2, allowing commuters to pay fares using supported debit cards, including MySSS Cards, as well as Google Pay, Apple Pay and e-wallets. —Princess Daisy C.
