  • Three employees emerged from more than 800 nationwide contenders in the company's inaugural Chicken Legends competition

McDonald’s Philippines is putting frontline talent at the center of its food quality strategy, strengthening operational excellence, product consistency, and customer satisfaction across its nationwide restaurant network.

The fast-food giant recently named three employees its first “Chicken Legends,” recognizing outstanding performance in preparing Chicken McDo following a nationwide competition involving more than 800 crew members.

Critical to customer loyalty

In the highly competitive quick-service restaurant industry, consistent product quality is critical to customer loyalty. McDonald’s is reinforcing its standards by empowering employees with specialized training and greater accountability.

From more than 800 McDo Chicken experts across the country, Michael Gomez, Ken Eirod Toribio, and Rowel Jhan Dave Limbago were chosen as the very first Chicken Legends during the Road to Chicken Legend competition held simultaneously in McDonald’s McKinley West, McDonald’s Southwoods, and McDonald’s Cosico San Pablo last October 6. | Contributed photo

Michael Gomez of McDonald’s Quezon Ave.-Ligaya, Ken Eirod Toribio of McDonald’s San Vicente San Pedro, and Rowel Jhan Dave Limbago of McDonald’s Davao Sta. Ana secured the top honors.

Launched in August, the competition featured restaurant representatives advancing through successive qualifying rounds.

The winners were announced during simultaneous Oct. 6 events at McDonald’s McKinley West, Southwoods, and Cosico San Pablo. Chicken McDo celebrity endorser Vice Ganda served as host of the culminating event in McDonald’s McKinley West.

Workforce development

Every McDonald’s Philippines restaurant has at least four Chicken McDo experts responsible for ensuring that each serving meets strict standards for appearance, crispiness, flavor, tenderness, and juiciness.

The initiative reinforces the brand’s commitment to delivering napakalaki at napakasarap (extra big and extra delicious) Chicken McDo.

“Our Chicken McDo experts demonstrate competence, consistent execution of standards, commitment to food safety, operational excellence, and the ability to influence and develop others when it comes to preparing and serving chicken McDo. Together with them, McDonald’s Philippines lives by the commitment that if a Chicken McDo does not pass the gold standard, we will not serve it,” McDonald’s Philippines senior brand manager NJ Caballar-Azurin said in a press statement.

Beyond employee recognition, the program underscores how workforce development can support operational discipline and reinforce brand standards across a growing restaurant network. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
