Businesses investing in cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies need to integrate these systems to support expansion, improve customer experience and strengthen operational resilience, according to Globe Business.

At the recently held G Summit 2026, the company brought together business leaders from retail, financial services, healthcare and energy utilities to discuss how connected digital systems can help organizations scale operations and respond to changing business demands.

Fragmented systems and disconnected technologies can increase operational complexity, particularly as companies expand across physical and digital channels.

Connected systems

Globe Business Senior Advisor Dennis Wong said companies need reliable connectivity, scalable cloud platforms, secure infrastructure and collaborative tools to maximize their technology investments.

“First, you need to have very reliable connectivity for access,” Wong said.

He emphasized the importance of integrating these capabilities rather than implementing them as separate projects.

“If the network folks, the cloud folks, and the security folks don't talk to each other, your transformation is not going to happen,” he said.

In retail, Walter Yu of AC Retail (ACx) and Anko stressed that cybersecurity should be incorporated into digital transformation efforts from the beginning rather than added during system integration.

Dustin Lacap of McDonald's Philippines said investing in future-ready cloud infrastructure should be viewed as a business growth decision rather than merely an information technology initiative.

Customer experience

In financial services, Suzelyn Urbano discussed how GCash is using AI to improve internal processes, accelerate innovation and create business opportunities while maintaining secure and responsible adoption guided by human judgment.

Healthcare providers face similar pressures as customer expectations increasingly reflect digital experiences across industries.

Atty. Gideon Peña said iCare is using technology to simplify claims processing, reduce friction and provide faster, more responsive services across multiple channels.

The discussions highlighted the importance of aligning technology investments with business strategies and customer needs.

Power reliability

Energy utilities also emphasized the role of integrated technologies in maintaining reliable electricity distribution.

Mark Anthony Kindica of Visayan Electric Company said connecting previously separate digital platforms through modern network tools could improve electricity distribution services for more than half a million Cebuanos.

Such integration allows utilities to move from reactive troubleshooting toward predictive maintenance.

Arvin Padayhag of Davao Light and Power Company Inc. and Aboitiz Power Distribution Utilities stressed that physical infrastructure and enterprise information technology systems must develop together.

He also identified cybersecurity as an essential component of power reliability, alongside the coordination of technology, data and personnel.

Business priorities

Globe Business said its approach combines connectivity, cloud and security capabilities to help enterprises manage increasingly complex digital operations.

Wong emphasized that companies should remain focused on their core operations and customers while ensuring that their technology systems work together.

“You should be focusing on the business. You should be focusing on your customer,” Wong said.
