Lucio Co’s Cosco Capital, parent firm of Puregold, grows Q1 2025 profit to P3.7B

Tycoon Lucio Co’s Cosco Capital Inc., the holding firm of Lucio Co, reported a 7.6 percent increase in net income to P3.67 billion in the first quarter of 2025.

Revenues rose 11.5 percent to P56.7 billion, driven by broad-based growth across its retail, liquor, and other business units despite economic headwinds.

Heavy lifting by Puregold, S&R 

Puregold and S&R contributed 72 percent of net income, rising 6.5 percent to P2.6 billion. 

Segment revenues hit P52.4 billion, up 10.8 percent, helped by same-store sales growth of 5.9 percent at Puregold and 4 percent at S&R.

Liquor sales surge past pre-pandemic levels

Liquor revenues climbed 20.9 percent to P4.06 billion, driven by an 18 percent increase in volume led by Alfonso brandy.

Net income rose 14.3 percent to P690 million, as on-premise consumption rebounded.

Mixed results in smaller units

Real estate rental income dipped 2 percent to P502 million, but net profit rose 5.3 percent to P273 million. The energy segment earned P58 million on P146 million in revenues. 

Office Warehouse posted P541 million in sales and P30 million in profit, both up about 3 percent.
