DMCI Holdings' nine-month profit jumped 28 percent to P15 billion as record earnings from electricity generation and nickel mining helped offset weaker coal profits, while its cement business continued to recover.

The Consunji family's conglomerate earned P11.7 billion in the same period last year, with all its subsidiaries reporting improved earnings contributions in the first nine months of 2026.

Third-quarter profit also climbed 33 percent to P3.6 billion, supported by stronger power, nickel mining and property earnings.

DMCI’s shares last traded at P6.44, down nearly 40 percent since the start of 2026, amid lingering uncertainty over the proposed government bidding of its coal mine in Semirara Mining and Power Corp.

Power outpaces coal

Electricity generation contributed a record P5.9 billion, up 42 percent, as higher spot market prices and improved plant performance boosted earnings.

At Semirara Mining and Power Corp., power earnings surged 51 percent to P4.8 billion, more than three times its P1.5-billion coal contribution, which plunged 46 percent amid lower shipments and difficult mining conditions.

Nickel mining profits nearly tripled to a record P2 billion after the opening of a third mine increased production and shipments, while firmer nickel prices provided another boost.

Cement recovery gathers pace

Cement producer Concreat narrowed its losses by 75 percent to P402 million as higher sales and tighter cost controls improved its performance despite elevated fuel costs.

Its core operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization reached P1.3 billion, reversing a P31-million loss a year earlier.

DMCI Homes contributed P3.1 billion, up 21 percent, helped by fewer sales cancellations and stronger rental income, while construction earnings increased 76 percent to P329 million.

Maynilad's contribution slipped to P2.2 billion from P2.8 billion despite record earnings at the water utility, reflecting DMCI's reduced ownership following its November 2025 initial public offering.
