Globe Telecom-backed venture to open 1st phase of PH's largest data center by mid-2025

Globe Telecom and Ayala Corp.-backed ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines is set to open the first phase of its STT Fairview 1 data center by the second 2025, positioning it to become the largest data center in the Philippines with a full capacity of 124 Megawatts.

Big picture

This facility is designed to support the global artificial intelligence boom. AI is projected to add 12 percent, or $92 billion, to the Philippines’ economic growth by 2030, according to the Department of Trade and Industry.

Market data also show the AI industry growing at an average annual rate of 28.57 percent, expected to reach $3.5 billion by 2030, up from $772 million today.

Management’s view

STT Fairview will be carrier-neutral, offering diverse connectivity options and pioneering energy-efficient technologies.

"We remain committed to delivering on our project timelines. Last year, we projected that STT Fairview would be ready in the first part of 2025, and we are on schedule to deliver the initial capacity by Q2 2025,”  Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines, a venture with Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, said in a statement on Thursday.

“Our designs are built around the current and future requirements of hyperscalers, and our ability to deliver on our commitments is underpinned by the ongoing development of local technical talent,” he added.
