The project will feature 16 wind turbines, each with an 8 MW capacity, marking the largest onshore wind towers in the Philippines.
Management’s view
“We are pleased to receive the DOE’s approval to increase the registered capacity of our Tanay Wind power project,” said Knud Hedeager, president of Alternergy Wind Holdings Corp. (AWHC), the sub-holding company of ALTER’s wind assets which owns 100 percent of Alternergy Tanay Wind Corporation.
We conducted a technical optimization study which showed that the potential net energy within the production area could generate as much as 128 MW of capacity,” he added.
Backing from local banks
Located in Tanay, Rizal, the project has secured up to P8 billion in financing from Bank of the Philippine Islands and Security Bank.
This will be Alternergy’s second wind farm in Rizal, joining the 54-MW Pililla Wind Farm, which has operated since 2015.
Construction on the Tanay project began in June 2024, with commercial operations expected by late 2025.
