ORDC president Anne Liu and First Gen chief engagement officer Carlo Vega signed the agreement on Feb. 27, 2025, reinforcing Oakridge’s commitment to renewable energy (RE) adoption and sustainable business practices.
“Since we started Oakridge Business Park in 2009, we have gradually made it part of our mission to push for sustainable solutions to help the environment,” Liu said during the signing ceremony.
Cebu’s first fully RE-powered business park
Spanning four hectares in Mandaue City, Oakridge Business Park has pioneered sustainability in Cebu’s commercial real estate. It is the first mixed-use property in Cebu to run on 100 percent RE, featuring electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and solar-powered charging hubs for mobile devices.
ORDC’s sustainability journey began in 2021, when it partnered with First Gen to supply electricity from a natural gas-fired power plant. By 2023, Oakridge fully transitioned to geothermal energy, ensuring its operations remained eco-friendly and energy-efficient.
“We started the decarbonization journey with Oakridge with low-carbon power from natural gas. We’re proud to have been with them all these years as they transitioned to 100 percent RE,” Vega said.
Real-time energy monitoring and efficiency solutions
As part of the renewed power supply deal, First Gen and its sister company, Pi Energy Inc., provide Oakridge with a remote energy monitoring system.
This system allows real-time electricity usage tracking and generates regular energy audit reports to assess energy consumption, costs, and potential efficiency projects.
A commitment to green energy
First Gen, a leading RE provider in the Philippines, owns and operates 28 RE power plants generating 1,651 megawatts (MW) of solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy. It also operates four natural gas power plants with a combined 2,017 MW capacity, offering a stable transition to increased RE integration in the country.
With a total combined 3,668 MW capacity, First Gen is one of the Philippines’ largest independent power producers, ensuring energy security while advancing the country’s clean energy goals. — Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
