The foundation recently turned over the newly renovated RHU of San Jose in Camarines Sur, benefitting over 45,000 residents across 29 barangays.
The rehabilitation initiative, part of BDO Foundation’s long-standing advocacy to improve healthcare infrastructure, aims to empower health workers and enhance patient access to medical services.
“With every RHU we turn over, we think about the thousands of Filipinos who will benefit from the facility,” said BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito. “We hope that through our humble contribution to the community, we empower health workers to serve their patients better and help patients gain better access to primary health services,” Deriquito added.
The San Jose RHU now features upgraded interiors and exteriors, improved accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens, and dedicated spaces for breastfeeding mothers and elderly patients.
Local health officials welcomed the development, emphasizing its impact on community healthcare. “This support empowers our health personnel to perform their duties with dignity and ensure that our community receives the care they deserve,” said San Jose Municipal Health Officer Dr. Arnel Armea.
BDO Foundation has been rehabilitating rural health units nationwide in collaboration with local government units, BDO branches, and BDO Network Bank.
Moving forward, the foundation remains committed to strengthening the grassroots healthcare system through continued RHU renovations. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
