 Electricity distribution giant Manila Electric Co. is expanding consumer access to competitive electricity supply as more eligible customers participate in government-backed choice programs. 

The Energy Regulatory Commission recognized Meralco for having the largest number of participants in Luzon.

Driving adoption 

The ERC cited Meralco’s role in advancing customer choice initiatives that expand access to competitive electricity supply. 

The programs include the Retail Competition and Open Access, Green Energy Option Program, and Retail Aggregation Program, allowing qualified users to choose suppliers, source renewable energy, or combine demand for retail supply. 

What Meralco says 

“Meralco has been actively advancing government-led programs such as the Retail Competition and Open Access, Green Energy Option Program, and Retail Aggregation Program, which provide qualified customers with greater flexibility in choosing their electricity suppliers,” the company said in a statement on Monday.
