The Ayala Greenfield Interchange, which starts construction next month, will connect South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 3 (TR3) to local roads, improving access to both SLEX and the STAR Tollway.
It will take about a year to finish, Ang said in a text message on Monday.
This project will ease traffic and shorten travel between SLEX and Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Once SLEX TR4 is completed, travel time from Sto. Tomas to Lucena will drop from three hours to just 45 minutes.
Positioned on the TR3 section, the interchange is key to boosting economic activity and regional connectivity in southern Luzon. It will also reduce travel times to Metro Manila, Alabang, and Nuvali.
Management’s view
“We are proud to partner with Ayala on this project. This is part of SMC Infrastructure’s larger initiative to improve and expand our southern tollways network, particularly the South Luzon Expressway,” Ang, the chair and CEO of SMC, in a joint statement on Monday.
“By the end of the year, we expect to turn it into a 6x6 lane expressway. With this, we can better support and sustain the long-term growth of CALABARZON,” he added.
“We are not simply breaking ground on a new infrastructure project; we are laying the foundation for enhanced connectivity and growth, enriching the lives of the communities that we serve,” Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, chair of Ayala Corp. and Ayala Land, said in the same statement.
“The Ayala Greenfield Interchange is a symbol of our shared vision to build a better and more vibrant future for the City of Calamba, for this generation, and for generations to come,” he added.
Easier access for Ayala Greenfield
Ayala Greenfield is a joint venture between Ayala Land Inc. and Greenfield Group, which developed Ayala Greenfield Estates, a 550-hectare premier residential community in Calamba, Laguna.
The interchange will provide direct access to Ayala Greenfield Estates, making commuting to business districts, schools, and leisure destinations faster and more convenient for the community and its neighbors.
