The project is a joint effort among the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), BCDA, toll operator NLEX Corp, and the local government of Hermosa. It will serve as a key link between Bataan’s rising industrial estates and nearby economic centers, including the Clark Freeport Zone, New Clark City, and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
“This interchange will unlock a new gateway to economic opportunities for Central Luzon—providing much-needed support for the region’s growing logistics and manufacturing sectors, and generating more jobs for Filipinos,” BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang said in a statement.
The planned Hermosa-SCTEX interchange will also improve connectivity to the Bataan Technology Park in Morong, the future headquarters of the Philippine Marine Corps.
The project supports the Marcos administration’s “Build Better More” infrastructure agenda and forms part of the ongoing SCTEX Expansion and Enhancement Plan. It is also seen as a critical component in advancing the Luzon Economic Corridor initiative, a strategic push to transform Central Luzon into a key manufacturing and electronics hub in Southeast Asia.
No project cost or timeline was disclosed, but officials said development works are in the planning stage with all parties in alignment. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
