Globe has intensified its fight against online child sexual abuse by blocking non-photographic imagery (NPI) such as AI-generated content, cartoons, and computer animations.

In just one month, from Aug. 27 to Sept. 27, Globe blocked 343 URLs and 16 domains flagged for NPI by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF).

The IWF warns that even non-live images can cause lasting harm to viewers. This move is part of Globe’s #MakeITSafePH campaign, which has invested over $2.7 million in content filtering technology.

In the first half of 2024, Globe blocked 1,718 domains and 190,167 URLs related to child sexual abuse materials. The efforts comply with the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009.

Management’s view

"Globe is committed to creating a safer online environment for everyone, especially children," said Anton Bonifacio, Globe’s chief information security officer and chief AI officer.

"Our intensified efforts to block access to harmful content, including NPI, demonstrate our dedication to protecting children from online sexual exploitation,” he added.
