The recovery marks one of the first major tests of the group’s disaster response strategy, which now includes the deployment of Starlink satellite broadband to keep communities connected while damaged infrastructure is repaired.
More than two dozen Starlink units have been deployed to geographically isolated communities, schools, evacuation centers and local government facilities affected by the powerful earthquake.
The company said the satellite links have helped maintain internet access in areas where traditional network facilities remain difficult to reach.
Repair crews continue to work in parts of General Santos City and nearby areas as restoration efforts enter their final stretch.
PLDT chief operating officer Butch Jimenez said teams were mobilized immediately after the earthquake to assess network conditions and restore services.
The telco group has also set up free calling centers, WiFi access and charging stations in hard-hit communities as recovery efforts continue.
