Competition among telcos is increasingly expanding into AI services, content ecosystems and connected devices as pressure builds on traditional mobile revenues.
Smart is leaning on Google Gemini integration and multi-model AI access to position the Rokid glasses as more than a hardware play.
The launch gives Smart an early foothold in what many technology firms see as a possible next consumer hardware category if AI assistants evolve into constant, hands-free companions.
Chasing the next device cycle
Weighing 49 grams, the Rokid glasses come with a built-in 12MP camera, private audio, teleprompter functions and hands-free recording aimed at creators, travelers and professionals.
The device allows users to access voice-driven AI assistance, live translation, navigation, transcription and content generation without reaching for a smartphone.
The international version also supports OpenAI’s ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Alibaba’s Qwen, highlighting how device makers are avoiding dependence on a single AI platform as competition intensifies globally.
Subscribers of Smart Postpaid Plan 1499 can avail themselves of the device for P28,800 via straight payment, while Infinity subscribers can get the glasses bundled under Plan 5000.
