PLDT Enterprise and 6D bring IoT closer to businesses

As businesses increasingly rely on real-time information to manage operations, monitor assets, and respond faster to changing conditions, demand is growing for connected technologies that can improve efficiency, visibility, and decision-making across industries.

For many companies, the ability to track devices, monitor system performance, and automate processes has become critical not only for productivity but also for maintaining operational reliability and customer service.

Against this backdrop, PLDT Enterprise is strengthening its Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities through a strategic partnership with 6D Technologies, a global telecommunications software company specializing in business support systems (BSS), operations support systems (OSS), IoT connectivity management, and digital transformation solutions.

Connected systems

The partnership aims to help more Philippine businesses adopt scalable and flexible connected solutions that can support operations across logistics, manufacturing, utilities, retail, and public services, PLDT Enterprise said in a statement.

At the center of the collaboration is 6D Technologies’ IoT Connectivity Management Platform (CMP), which allows telecom operators to create, deploy, manage, and monitor IoT services at scale.

The platform supports the full IoT lifecycle, including SIM provisioning, device onboarding, real-time usage monitoring, automated billing, and enterprise self-service capabilities.

PLDT Enterprise said the platform is expected to improve how businesses manage connected devices and respond to operational requirements in real time.

Industry demand

The collaboration opens opportunities for a wide range of IoT applications, including fleet tracking, smart metering, industrial automation, cold chain monitoring, smart surveillance, and connected vehicle solutions.

For logistics companies, connected technologies can improve visibility over vehicles and deliveries. Manufacturers can use IoT systems to support automation and equipment monitoring, while utilities can strengthen oversight of meters and field assets.

Retailers and public service organizations may also benefit from faster access to operational data that can support quicker and more informed decision-making.

Built on Smart’s 5G-enabled infrastructure, the platform is designed to support deployments even in remote or hard-to-reach areas, potentially expanding access to connected solutions beyond major urban centers.

Easier adoption

PLDT Enterprise said many businesses continue to face challenges in adopting IoT technologies because of the complexity involved in managing devices, connectivity, security settings, and costs across multiple locations.

Through 6D Technologies’ platform capabilities, the company said it aims to create more flexible bundled services and more accessible entry points for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and mid-market customers.

The platform also supports seamless roaming for connected devices across regions, eSIM enablement for remote provisioning, data pooling to improve cost efficiency, and enhanced access point name (APN) management for more secure network configurations.

In addition, the system includes AI-powered IoT connectivity management features designed to identify anomalies, predict connectivity issues before disruptions occur, and automatically optimize device and network performance.

For enterprises managing large numbers of connected devices across multiple sites, these capabilities can reduce manual interventions and improve system uptime.

Digital operations

PLDT Enterprise said the partnership reflects its broader strategy of helping businesses move beyond basic connectivity toward more intelligent and automated digital operations.

“This partnership with 6D Technologies strengthens our ability to deliver more scalable and flexible IoT services to businesses across the Philippines,” said Nico Alcoseba, first vice president and head of product management and innovation at PLDT Enterprise.

“By enhancing our IoT platform capabilities, we are better positioned to help enterprises adopt connected technologies faster, support new use cases, and build smarter, more responsive operations,” he added.

Manish Arora, executive director and chief revenue officer of 6D Technologies, said the Philippines remains one of Southeast Asia’s growing IoT markets.

“Our platform is built to give operators the speed, visibility, and flexibility to launch and scale IoT services on their own terms,” Arora said. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
