PLDT Home is rolling out enhanced incentives and service upgrades to capture rising demand for work-from-home (WFH) connectivity, as inflation and higher transport costs push more Filipinos to reconsider daily commuting.

Reliable home internet is increasingly viewed as essential infrastructure, enabling households to sustain income and productivity amid economic pressure.

The telco is waiving installation fees and rolling out speed boosts for both new and existing subscribers, positioning its fiber services as a cost-efficient alternative to on-site work setups.

Big picture

The move aligns with government calls for flexible work arrangements as a buffer against global economic volatility.

By lowering barriers to digital adoption, PLDT Home is betting that stronger connectivity can help stabilize household finances.

Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr., PLDT chief operating officer and chief technology officer, said the company is enhancing its fiber offerings to support the evolving needs of Filipino workers.

“Filipinos are among the most resilient people in the world, and we want to make it easier for them to navigate today’s challenges,” Jimenez said.

The offer

New subscribers to Fiber Plan 1299 and above will receive up to double their current speeds for six months, alongside a waiver of the P3,600 installation fee.

Switchers, meanwhile, get access to an “Always On” modem—a hybrid fiber-LTE device designed to maintain connectivity during outages, a critical feature for freelancers and remote professionals.

Added perks

PLDT Home is bundling entertainment and lifestyle benefits, including free access to Cignal, a one-year gaming pass, and discounts on Samsung home products, to increase value for subscribers.

Prepaid push

The company is also expanding its Fiber Prepaid lineup to attract budget-conscious users seeking flexibility without long-term contracts.

Subscribers can now access speeds of up to 100 Mbps and 300 Mbps, with load options ranging from one day to a full year. Entry-level plans can go as low as about P19 per day for extended packages.

Between the lines

The prepaid expansion reflects a broader shift toward on-demand connectivity, especially among gig workers and households with fluctuating incomes.

What’s next

As economic pressures persist, PLDT Home is expected to continue bundling connectivity with lifestyle and productivity tools to retain customers and grow market share.

By cutting upfront costs and boosting speeds, PLDT Home is positioning itself as a key enabler of the country’s remote work transition—turning connectivity into both a necessity and a competitive advantage. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
