We’re hearing excited chatter rushing through the halls of ABS-CBN’s executive offices in Quezon City.
Hours prior, Star Magic’s eight-member girl group BINI dropped the single “Cherry on Top,” which quickly rose to top global charts.
Cherry on Top became the No. 1 song on iTunes and the top trending video on YouTube for music, according to eager fans monitoring its success.
The music video has reached nearly 3 million views on YouTube as of this writing, just 17 hours after its release. On streaming giant Spotify, the song reached No. 3 in News Music Friday’s Korea charts.
This comes closer than ever to ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak’s dream of bringing Filipino music and entertainment to the global stage.
The good news for ABS-CBN is that this isn’t even the cherry on top. Bigger things are in store for BINI and the company’s other efforts to maintain its status as the country’s premier content provider.
And who knows, ABS-CBN might close another blockbuster business deal before the year closes, if things go as planned.
