During a special meeting on Nov. 27, the company’s board approved the change in its corporate name from Golden MV Holdings to Villar Land Holdings Corp.
The move will “align with the recent developments in the company specifically with the acquisition of companies owning land in Villar City.”
“The company will gain further flexibility in undertaking the business expansion,” Golden MV Holdings said in a stock exchange filing.
Golden MV, which develops affordable housing and cemetery plots, was originally named Golden Haven Memorial Park when it went public in 2016. The P1.38-trillion company trades under the stock symbol HVN.
It later changed its name to Golden Bria Holdings in 2018 and then to its most recent iteration, Golden MV, two years later.
Last October, Golden MV unveiled plans to acquire property in Villar City, a 3,500-hectare estate spanning parts of Cavite and Metro Manila, for P5.2 billion.
Dubbed a new “megalopolis,” the project will feature two golf courses, a church, an events arena, a university, and an integrated entertainment complex.
In previous interviews, Villar shared his vision of adding casinos, housing, and office spaces to the development.
