These new data centers, with a combined capacity of 1,500 racks, are designed to set a new benchmark in the industry, aiming to secure the highest level of certification for data center performance, Converge said in a statement.
The facilities, scheduled to be operational by next year, are part of Converge’s strategic initiative to address the growing demand for data-intensive applications across various sectors, including gaming, fintech, and public services.
“This future-proofing investment is in anticipation of the massive demand in the coming years for more data-intensive applications in gaming, fintech, OTT, public services, and more,” said Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy.
Company chief network transformation officer, Paulo Martin Santos, highlighted the goal of achieving Uptime Institute Tier III certification for both design and facility.
Critical for large-scale AI workloads
This certification ensures that the data centers can undergo maintenance or upgrades without disrupting operations, providing a robust and reliable service to clients.
To further enhance the performance and sustainability of its data centers, Converge is exploring advanced technologies such as liquid cooling solutions for high-density AI Graphic Processing Units (GPUs). These innovations are critical for handling large-scale AI workloads, which generate significant heat and pose challenges to data center longevity.
Resilient network infrastructure
Converge has partnered with global technology leader Super Micro Computer Inc. to equip the new data centers with cutting-edge rack-scale liquid-cooling solutions. This partnership underscores Converge’s dedication to building the most advanced and resilient network infrastructure in the Philippines.
These developments mark a significant step forward in the company's mission to evolve from a fiber broadband company into a comprehensive technology provider, offering a wider range of services to support the digital transformation of businesses across the country.
“The main agenda is to go beyond connectivity. Like what we’ve been saying, we’re not just a fiber broadband company- we are a technology company,” Uy said.
