The global digital business services firm recently joined the “Bridges to Success” Career Fair organized by the National University (NU), in partnership with SM Offices, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The event gathered around 3,500 graduating students from five NU campuses.
Bridging gaps
The career fair served as a platform for students to explore job opportunities, interact with industry leaders, and gain insights into navigating today’s evolving workforce.
It also featured forums tackling career decision-making, industry expectations, and emerging opportunities across sectors.
NU HR senior director Lyle Dela Cerna and SM Offices vice president Alexis Ortiga welcomed attendees, emphasizing the importance of strong collaboration between schools and businesses in preparing graduates for employment.
Expert advice
During the “From Campus to Career” panel, TP representatives shared practical advice for first-time jobseekers. TP business development manager Deng Lopez, in a press statement, underscored the value of academic achievements.
“A fresh graduate’s academic journey should never be discounted,” Lopez said, noting that completing a degree provides a strong foundation for entering the workforce.
Mindset shift
Meanwhile, TP recruitment director Joan Gapol encouraged graduates to recognize the value of their early experiences, including internships.
“Do not think that you don’t have the experience,” Gapol said. “The moment you start your internship journey, it counts as an experience that employers are looking for.”
Student engagement
TP’s recruitment booth drew strong interest from students eager to learn about opportunities in the IT-BPM sector.
Representatives guided applicants through available roles and the initial hiring process, offering a clearer pathway into the industry.
Jeepney launch
A key highlight was the debut of TP’s solar-powered modern jeepney, showcased outside the venue. The interactive installation attracted crowds of students, who participated in activities and received tokens and prizes.
The initiative created an engaging environment that encouraged students to connect with the company while learning about its programs and career offerings.
Hands-on training
TP also conducted one-on-one mock interviews and skills assessment sessions, giving students a chance to experience real-world hiring scenarios. Recruiters provided personalized feedback to help participants improve their communication skills and build confidence.
“I felt overwhelmed at first, but looking at the whole experience, I believe that this initiative is great,” said student Samantha Implementa, noting that the mock interviews helped her prepare for future job applications.
Learning experience
Another participant, Kate Ashley Sanchez, described the session as “eye-opening,” adding that it provided new insights into handling job interviews effectively despite prior experience.
Roadshow rollout
The event marked the first rollout of the TP Jeepney for its 2026 nationwide caravan, a roadshow aimed at bringing career opportunities closer to students across the country.
TP vice president for human resources Rachel Cacabelos said in a statement that the company aims to expand its engagement with academic institutions.
“We hope to engage with more academic partners this year and showcase to graduates the opportunities of working in an advancing environment of the IT-BPM sector,” she said.
Looking ahead
TP said it will continue collaborating with schools and government partners through job fairs and career programs.
