In an email to InsiderPH, Carlo Villacorta, vice president for SSS public affairs and special events, said members can lodge their applications online through the mySSS portal: https://member.sss.gov.ph/.
“Application shall be online through the SSS members' MySSS online account so requirements are significantly reduced as long as they have their online account,” he said.
Who can apply
All SSS members, pensioners, and beneficiaries with updated records are eligible to avail themselves of the mySSS card.
The SSS, in partnership with UnionBank, recently launched the MySSS Card, a two-in-one innovation that combines an official SSS functional ID with a UnionBank-powered Visa debit card.
The card enables members to receive benefits, loans, and refunds directly through a UnionBank savings account. Applicants can also request the MySSS Card via the UnionBank Online app.
Rollout still underway
However, Unionbank said final preparations for the rollout of the mySSS card are still underway. “This includes system enhancements, coordination with partner agencies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements,” the bank explained in a statement.
“A comprehensive and user-friendly process will be announced once the card becomes officially available,” it added.
“We are committed to delivering a seamless experience and will share updates through our official channels as soon as possible,” UnionBank said.
From UMID to MySSS
The mySSS card will replace the Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) card as the official SSS ID. It features an EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) chip, PhilSys eVerify and biometric authentication.
The move signals a stronger push toward digital inclusion and easier access to government services for millions of Filipinos, especially those who remain unbanked.

The new benefit card offers a faster, safer, and smarter way for members to handle their financial and government transactions.
“Isang swipe mo lang, marami nang pakinabang. Gamit po ito, diretso at mabilis nang makukuha ng mga SSS members ang kanilang benefits, loans, at pensyon. Magagamit niyo rin po ito sa pamimili, pagbabayad ng pamasahe, at pang araw-araw na gastusin," Finance Secretary and SSS Chair Ralph Recto said in a separate statement.
