Why it matters
The move signals a stronger push toward digital inclusion and easier access to government services for millions of Filipinos, especially those who remain unbanked.
“This partnership marks a major step forward in making government services more accessible and efficient for our members,” said Robert Joseph M. De Claro, President and CEO of SSS.
“The MySSS Card empowers our members with a secure and convenient way to receive their benefits, while also serving as an official SSS-recognized ID.”
How it works
The card enables members to receive benefits, loans, and refunds directly through a UnionBank savings account. Applicants can request the MySSS Card via the UnionBank Online app, unlocking access to worldwide Visa transactions, digital payments, and mobile banking features.
By the numbers
Over 40 million Filipinos with a PhilSys ID will be eligible for the MySSS Card.
Hundreds of thousands of cards have already been issued through a previous SSS–UnionBank partnership that began in October 2022.
The big picture
UnionBank sees the initiative as a game-changer in reshaping the banking landscape.
“Together with SSS, we are once again reimagining what banking can be like for millions of Filipinos,” said Ana Aboitiz Delgado, president and CEO of UnionBank. “We are proud to be partners in this initiative that enhances financial inclusion.”
What’s next
The MySSS Card is expected to roll out soon, offering a faster, safer, and smarter way for members to manage both financial and government transactions.
