The hotel, operated by SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) in partnership with Radisson Hotel Group, said the milestone reflects its long-term strategy of expanding world-class hospitality offerings outside Metro Manila while supporting local economies and tourism growth in emerging urban centers.
“Seven years ago, we envisioned Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo as a landmark property that would add to the vibrant tourism landscape of Western Visayas,” Peggy Angeles, executive vice president of SMHCC, said in a press statement.
“Seeing it flourish into a beloved destination that marries global standards with local heart is immensely rewarding," she added.
Why it matters
Regional tourism players are increasingly leaning on cultural identity and local partnerships to differentiate their offerings as domestic travel rebounds and secondary cities attract more investments in hospitality and events.
Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo said it recently secured the internationally recognized Safehotels Certification, validating its safety and security standards for travelers and event organizers.
The hotel also strengthened its culinary branding after winning a Gold medal for Bibingka and a Silver medal for Valenciana during the 16th National Food Showdown. Management said the recognition reinforces Iloilo’s growing reputation as a culinary destination.
“Food is more than nourishment. It is one of the strongest connections we have to our culture,” said general manager Rouel Guanzon.
The big picture
Beyond food and accommodations, the hotel has invested in digital and cultural initiatives aimed at enhancing guest engagement and preserving local narratives. These include StayPlease, a digital ordering platform, and “Beyond the Plate,” a masterclass initiative developed with the Iloilo MICE Center.
The property also launched “Panubli-on,” a documentary-style series featuring stories behind iconic Ilonggo dishes and culinary families.
As it enters its eighth year, Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo said it plans to deepen community partnerships and continue positioning itself as a “home away from home” rooted in Ilonggo warmth and hospitality. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
