The SM Group’s SM Markets is set to open 10-15 new stores this year to provide provincial regions better access to modern grocery shopping.
This expansion will allow SM Markets to reach over 350 stores nationwide, with over 70 percent outside the National Capital Region. The new stores aim to bring quality, affordable products closer to more Filipino homes.
“Service is at the heart of everything we do. As we grow, we see an opportunity to enhance lives by providing quality food and excellent service across the nation,” SM Supermarket president Jojo Tagbo said in a statement on Tuesday.
“From fresh produce to pantry staples and discoveries, we aim to ensure families have access to their daily essentials,” he added.
These openings will support local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises by showcasing their products. In the first half of the year, stores will open in Mati (Davao Oriental), Marilao (Bulacan), and Naujan (Davao de Oro).
Recent openings include Savemore Siniloan, Pantukan, Hotel Supreme, and SM Supermarket Caloocan.
SM Markets continues to expand its geographical reach with 66 Supermarkets, 54 Hypermarkets, and 223 Savemore stores.
