Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) has removed transfer fees for InstaPay and PESONet transactions made through its mobile and online banking channels, becoming the latest lender to eliminate charges for interbank fund transfers.

In an advisory, the Metrobank Group thrift bank said customers can enjoy free InstaPay and PESONet transfers through PSBank Mobile and Online effective July 9. Clients needing assistance may contact the bank's 24/7 Customer Experience Hotline.

The background

The advisory follows parent Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co.'s decision to waive InstaPay and PESONet transfer fees across its own digital banking channels, extending the banking group's efforts to make everyday digital transactions more affordable for customers.

Metrobank earlier said the fee waiver reflects its commitment to providing greater convenience and value as more Filipinos shift to digital banking for routine financial transactions.

Why it matters

The removal of transfer fees allows PSBank customers to send funds to accounts in other banks without additional charges, whether through InstaPay for real-time transfers or PESONet for scheduled fund transfers.

The move also reinforces PSBank's digital banking strategy as competition among banks increasingly centers on providing seamless and cost-efficient online services. Offering free interbank transfers could help attract new users while encouraging existing customers to make greater use of the bank's digital platforms.

PSBank's latest advisory signals the Metrobank Group's continued investment in enhancing the digital banking experience, with zero-fee transfers becoming a key value proposition for customers managing their finances online. — Princess Daisy C. Ominga| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
