The rollout will begin at Park McKinley West in Taguig City, where Megaworld is partnering with Samsung to integrate the Samsung SmartThings platform across selected residential units starting this year.
Management’s view
Unlike earlier smart homes that relied on manual app controls and stand-alone devices, the new units are designed to manage lighting, climate, and appliances through a single platform that adjusts based on time, usage patterns, and device status.
“Innovation is central to Megaworld’s vision of shaping future-ready communities. Through our AI-powered homes initiative, we are redefining residential living by creating intelligent spaces that enhance comfort, safety, and sustainability across our townships,” said Francis Viernes, head of business innovation and transformation at Megaworld.
Homebuyers can opt into the setup by integrating Samsung appliances such as televisions, washing machines, air-conditioning units, and other compatible devices into the SmartThings system.
How tech changes daily living
Megaworld said the setup lets homes handle daily tasks automatically and manage energy use with minimal user input, moving beyond simple remote controls toward a more integrated system.
The developer introduced connected-home features nearly a decade ago through its iTownships program, but this marks its first residential rollout that uses AI to adjust how homes operate based on residents’ habits.
The rollout comes as AI use continues to rise locally, with a recent Public First study showing growing adoption across Filipino households.
