This development was announced in a letter dated Dec. 12, 2024, by MAP president Rene Almendras, who requested members to respect Bonoan’s decision and privacy.
Almendras highlighted Bonoan’s nearly two-decade-long active membership in MAP, during which he held key positions such as vice president and member of the Board of Governors.
His significant contributions and professional achievements had earned him the presidency for the upcoming year.
Despite stepping down, Almendras commended Bonoan for prioritizing the organization’s best interests over personal considerations.
“With his decision not to assume this role, I recognize the primacy of MAP in his considerations,” Almendras said. “Clearly, he placed our organization's best interests above personal considerations and, for this, we should all be grateful.”
With Bonoan’s decision, the incoming MAP Board for 2025 is expected to reconvene and organize a new election to appoint the next president.
