Cosco Capital Inc., the retail and liquor-focused conglomerate of tycoon Lucio Co, grew its first-half 2025 net income by 9.3 percent to P7.6 billion as strong grocery and liquor sales powered its portfolio.

Group revenues climbed 12.3 percent to P119.5 billion, fueled by resilient consumer spending across all major segments despite a tougher economic backdrop.

Puregold, Alfonso brandy

Grocery retail, which includes Puregold Price Club and S&R Membership Shopping Club, accounted for 70 percent of group profit and lifted segment revenues 11.6 percent to P109.9 billion.

Same-store sales rose 6.4 percent at Puregold and 4.7 percent at S&R, pushing segment net income up 7.1 percent to P5.3 billion.

Liquor distribution, handled by The Keepers Holdings, delivered a 17 percent revenue jump to P9.04 billion on the back of a 22 percent increase in volumes, led by the Alfonso brandy line’s rebound past pre-pandemic levels.

The segment’s net income climbed 13.7 percent to P1.6 billion.

Real estate, power

Commercial real estate posted flat revenue growth at P618 million but saw net income increase 15 percent to P559 million, supported by cost discipline.

Energy and minerals generated P309 million in revenue and P117 million in net income, while specialty retail arm Office Warehouse booked a 4.5 percent revenue rise to P1.04 billion, with net income up 14 percent to P44.5 million.
