Building a sustainable future: Globe empowers suppliers with ESG tools and technology

Globe is revolutionizing sustainability across its supply chain by equipping vendors with essential tools, training, and technology to meet global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

Through its internal Sustainability Academy, Globe provides capacity-building initiatives to empower suppliers to adopt sustainable practices, close knowledge gaps, and improve technical capabilities.

These efforts help vendors enhance their competitive edge while aligning with evolving consumer expectations and regulatory frameworks, including mandatory sustainability reporting requirements in the Philippines.

'Beyond Business as Usual'

In collaboration with Givvable, an Australian AI-powered data platform for supplier sustainability, Globe co-hosted the webinar “Beyond Business as Usual: Building a Sustainable Future.”

Attended by nearly 170 representatives from over 50 vendors—81 percent of whom were local suppliers—the event highlighted actionable strategies for carbon reduction, ESG diligence, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting.

Apple Evangelista, Globe’s sustainability and social responsibility head, and Naomi Vowels, Givvable’s co-founder, led discussions on leveraging automated tools and best practices to integrate sustainability into the supply chain.

Knowledge-sharing

The GHG accounting module resonated strongly with attendees, inspiring commitments to sustainability guidelines and knowledge-sharing within organizations.

"Sustainability requires deliberate efforts, supported by awareness, dedication, and collaboration. Our Academy enables suppliers to take meaningful steps toward achieving shared sustainability goals,” said Jerry Cabiles, Globe’s head of procurement and logistics.

Expanding Sustainability Academy

Globe also evaluates its top 300 suppliers using Givvable, ensuring ESG compliance and encouraging practices like carbon footprint reduction, ethical sourcing, and circular economy strategies.

Looking ahead, Globe plans to scale its Sustainability Academy, deepen supplier engagement, and provide advanced training modules to foster a resilient, responsible supply chain that contributes to a sustainable future. --Ed: CSN
