Jollibee Group is intensifying its global governance and cross-border strategy as one of its key legal leaders continues to play an increasingly influential role in guiding the company through complex international transactions.

Atty. Vera Marie “Vem” Bautista-King, general counsel for corporate & commercial global, has emerged as a driving force behind the company’s legal and corporate governance evolution, with her work gaining broad recognition across the region.

According to details shared by the group in a press release, Bautista-King was recently named a finalist for In-House Lawyer of the Year and Woman Lawyer of the Year at the ALB Philippine Law Awards, adding to a growing list of distinctions.

She was previously cited by Legal 500 as one of the country’s top General Counsels in its inaugural GC Powerlist Philippines, signaling her influence in shaping regional legal standards.

Over eight years with Jollibee Group, Bautista-King has risen from manager to global leader, now overseeing corporate & commercial (governance, capital markets & securities, and M&A), EMEAA, franchising, and ethics (governance). 

She has helped lead transformative initiatives, including the acquisition of Compose Coffee in South Korea—awarded Best M&A Transaction in Korea (2024)—and the company’s $300-million senior unsecured guaranteed bond issuance, marking Jollibee’s return to the global bond market in 2025.
