The company said the collapse was caused by earthquake-related cracks, worsened by continuous heavy rain.
URC has deployed 127 workers, supported by 20 Coast Guard members, to repair the damaged section, which is now 60 percent complete and expected to finish by November 4. The new dike is being reinforced with rubber tires and boulders to strengthen the structure and prevent future leaks.
The company is coordinating with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and other agencies to contain the spill, conduct water quality monitoring, and guide marine recovery efforts.
Experts have been mobilized to assess the affected areas and advise on ecosystem rehabilitation.
URC has also been directed by the DENR to submit an Environmental Rehabilitation and Restoration Plan and provide financial assistance to affected families.
Meanwhile, operations at the Bais Distillery remain suspended as URC continues its cleanup and community support initiatives.
