Both long-delayed projects are being pushed by the Aboitiz Group which holds original proponent status for both aviation projects. As such, they can win either or both deals by matching the bids submitted by rival proponents.
These decisions were made during the NEDA Board's 19th meeting on July 15, 2024, the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.
The PTCs for the Bohol-Panglao International Airport upgrade, with a budget of P4.5 billion, aim to align with the new Public-Private Partnership Code.
The project seeks to increase passenger capacity from 2 million to at least 2.5 million annually at inception, and up to 3.9 million by completion.
Simultaneously, the NEDA Board sanctioned changes to the PTCs for the Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental, following Cabinet-level discussions of the Investment Coordination Committee.
These revisions include passenger service charge adjustments based on performance metrics during the concession period.
The P12.75-billion project will enhance existing facilities, augment capacity, install new equipment, and improve airside infrastructure, ensuring the airport meets Northern Mindanao's growing demands.
NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan emphasized the government's commitment to improving regional connectivity, expecting these projects to boost tourism and create high-quality jobs.
