PLDT shakes up communications leadership as Cathy Yap-Yang retires

Telecommunications giant PLDT Inc. announced the voluntary retirement of Catherine L. Yap-Yang, first vice president and head of communications, effective Dec. 1, 2024, after nearly four years with the company.

This comes amid a revamp in the company’s communications division, which Yap-Yang headed.

Plans for a major reshuffle here were previously reported by InsiderPH in its Insider Info column.

Key changes include the return of former communications head Ramon “Mon” Isberto to oversee the transition.

Gian Lao, a communications expert within the MVP Group, will also join Isberto, while a new communications chief, who has yet to be named, is expected to be appointed by early 2025.

Yap-Yang, a former anchor at ABS-CBN News, also hosts the Thought Leaders program with One News, part of PLDT’s media group.
