The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said on Tuesday that its board, chaired by President Marcos, approved changes to the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) project — a major piece of infrastructure that the government expects to be completed by 2027.

In a statement, NEDA said the modifications, sanctioned during the its board's 19th meeting on July 15, 2024, involve expanding the first phase of the project to include connecting roads and interchanges in Barangay Tunasan in Muntinlupa City, San Pedro, Biñan, and Cabuyao in Laguna.

The NEDA Board improved on the original 2021 plan for the project, which includes a 37.5-kilometer primary road and a 12-kilometer viaduct from Lower Bicutan, Taguig, to Tunasan, Muntinlupa, and a 25.5-kilometer shoreline viaduct and embankment to Calamba, Laguna.

Once it is completed in three years, the project is anticipated to boost economic activity in the National Capital Region, CALABARZON, and Central Luzon.

NEDA Secretary and board vice chairman Arsenio Balisacan emphasized the project's potential to alleviate transportation bottlenecks, promote regional economic development, and offer safer, faster travel for road users.

The project’s second phase, currently under feasibility study tat will conclude by yearend, will extend from Binangonan, Rizal, to Calamba, Laguna, adding 71.5 kilometers to the mainline.
